    Tech centers open at these Springfield multi-family properties

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Residents of Home City Development Inc. in Springfield will soon have access to the latest technology.

    Thursday morning Home City Development announced their partnership with Tech Foundry to provide tech centers in four of their multi-family properties. The centers will offer free technology training and services to residents.

    Home City Development CEO Tom Kegelman told 22News, “We recognize the need for technical sophistication among the workforce and these tech centers that we are introducing today are going to be a big help for people to acquire those skills that they need to succeed.”

    Jennifer Martinez a Home City resident stated, “Having a tech center means a lot of open doors when it comes to day-to-day resources it can help reduce the gap between those without, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the digital economy.”

    Mayor Sarno states, “It is important that the residents of our City have access to internet, in a world that is reliant on the internet for communication, education, health, and financial aspects. The four tech centers, located in the Liberty Hill Townhouses, Chestnut Crossing, Bay Area Community Resource Center, and Brookings apartments are great additions, and will be utilized for group trainings, and childcare training, and have laptops, printers, desks, and Wi-Fi along with other useful tech resources. I am proud of my administration for their dedicated work to administer ARPA funding where it is most needed and continuing to move our City of Springfield in the right direction.”

    The tech centers will be located in the community centers of four of the Home City Development properties, including the Elias Brookings Apartments and the Community Room at 437 Bay Street.
