New Ludlow High School Lions athletic complex features synthetic turf field

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A grand opening celebration for the new athletic complex for Ludlow High School is being held before the Lions kickoff their Friday night football game.
Construction began in 2008 and is now complete with a new track, synthetic turf field, LED lights, new scoreboards, and updated baseball fields.
The community is invited to attend the Lions football game and ribbon cutting beginning at 6 p.m. The festivities include a dedication of the POW/MIA Chair, followed by the presentation of the colors by the Ludlow Veterans Services Color Guard. The National Anthem will be performed by members of the high school band and chorus.

Members of the School Committee, Ludlow Board of Selectmen, Town and School Administration, and LHS athletes and coaches will gather to unveil a plaque and cut the ceremonial ribbon at halftime.
“This new athletic complex signifies progress, pride, and the continued growth of a community that values education, sportsmanship, and the well-being of its members,” said Ludlow Public Schools Athletic Director Tim Brillo.
The Lions take on South Hadley Tigers starting at 6:30 p.m.
“With this new athletic complex, we are not just investing in facilities; we are investing in the potential of our students. This project provides a safe and competitive environment that will further foster the teamwork, resilience, and sense of community for which Ludlow is known,” said Superintendent Frank Tiano. “I am appreciative of the Board of Selectmen’s decision to support our students when the funds became available.”
“We are so happy for Ludlow students and their families. The new athletic complex is a premier facility that will serve our community for years to come,” said Town Administrator Marc Strange. “Kudos to Tim Brillo and his team for sticking with this effort over the years, and credit to the Board of Selectmen for using the town’s American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds on such an important project.”
