Fans at Friday night’s game celebrated the grand opening of the new athletic complex.

“We had many holes, it was not playable period,” shared Principal Nemeth, Ludlow High School.

This is a long-overdue project, nearly 15 years in the making. Construction began in 2008 and is now complete, with a new track, synthetic turf field, LED lights, and updated baseball fields.

Ludlow High School student-athletes haven’t been able to play at home in years due to the construction.

“Our soccer games have been filled with fans and everyone has just been so excited to come to see us play, it means a lot to finally have fans in the stands,” shared Sophia Scyocurka, Ludlow women’s soccer team member.

Upperclassmen are also thankful to spend their last few high school seasons playing on their home turf.

“l think it’s just so cool. Like we’re finally the school that everyone wants to play at with the cool turf,” shared Calleigh Foley, Ludlow women’s soccer team member. The new athletic complex was made possible by the Board of Selectmen and with the assistance of ARPA funding.

This upcoming Monday, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will host a senior night at Ludlow High School, and for the first time in a couple of years, the school’s Thanksgiving football game will be played at home.
