SUNDERLAND, Mass. (WWLP) – A local business that has been collecting hurricane relief donations says that they can no longer transport the aid to the Southeast.

Frederick Lowenthal, owner of Sparky’s Services says because of ‘unforeseen circumstances’ with the availability of the trailers needed for traveling, and the lack of funding, they had to cancel the trip.

“We want to thank everyone for their participation and we are in hopes of getting involved with New Life’s drive that they are doing, and to at least be able to back them up. The biggest thing about us is that we want to give back to the community, and when another person is in need we would like to be there for them.”

However, Sparky’s is partnering with the New Life Worship Center in Westfield, which will now be taking the collected goods and the $200 in donations to help those devastated by hurricanes in Florida and North Carolina.
