CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Temperatures have been below average for the past few days but there is some warmer weather on the way for the weekend.

High temperatures have been in the 40s and 50s the past few days and overnight low temperatures in the 20s and 30s with many seeing frost on Tuesday morning. Up north in the Green Mountains of Vermont and White Mountains of New Hampshire, there has been snow which will continue to fall into Tuesday night with some of the highest peaks seeing over 6 inches.

This is great news if you are a ski lover or just a cold-weather enthusiast but if you are more of a warm-weather lover, you will have your turn soon. Currently, there is a trough which is a dip in the jet stream over New England giving us this cold air coming in from the north.

Out west there is a ridge which is a lift in the jet stream giving them some warmer weather. As we go towards the weekend, this ridge and high pressure will move east and give us lots of sunshine and warm temperatures with highs in the 70s by the weekend.
