SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday, October 19 is the first day of in-person early voting in Massachusetts.

In-person early voting is a great option for people who can’t make it to the polls November 5, and know there is at least one early voting site within your community.

Polls will be available in each city and town through November 1. In Springfield, for example, in-person voting will take place at City Hall daily during business hours and at the Greenleaf Community Center from 9 am to 4 pm Saturday.

Early voting is a convenient option for many voters as it gives another chance to get to the polls and ensures your vote is counted.

“It’s flexibility to fit it in your schedule, instead of just on Election Day,” said West Springfield City Clerk Otto Frizzell. “People that work long shifts or different schedules can have that flexibility to come in and vote.”

In-person early voting in West Springfield will take place at the library, and the West Springfield City Clerk reminds voters to review ballot questions and the information in the state’s red voter information booklets so you can make an informed decision when casting your vote.

Vote by mail is another option if you cannot physically make it to the polls, and the deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 29th.

These multiple options help assure each citizen can cast their ballot and making their voice heard.

“We have early voting, we have the sites, and City Hall, and try to expand as much as we can,” said City of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. “I urge people, no matter how you feel, you need to get out there. You need to get out there and vote.”
