Isaac Bamgbose, the founder of New City Development Partners, says his firm wanted to bring the new Hobbs Station development to Plainfield to drive more economic growth in the area. Whoever the next governor of Indiana is, current Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb said it’s crucial that they get on board with the U.S. 30 freeway project. “I think it’s critically important that 30 comes to fruition, and it’s an immensely important corridor that speaks to not just the potential but the demand for growth in an area like this,” he said. “I mentioned how special this community is. The same can be said going across the northern part of our state. It’s beautiful, it’s safe, it’s high-quality of life, and businesses increasingly are wanting to grow where people want to live. And so, it’s really a win-win-win when we get done with all the due diligence on 30 and get busy finishing it.”

Fishers resident heads to Ironman World Championship
Fishers resident Kyle Gabbard has qualified to compete this fall in the annual Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Ironman World Championship is a Hawaii-based competition that features “the very best male professional and age-group triathletes from around the world,” according to the organization. The competition, which attracts about 2,000 international competitors, is a combined 140.6-mile event that consists of swimming in Kailua Bay, biking along the coast and running through barren lava fields.
Noblesville High School hires swim coach
The Noblesville Swim Club and Noblesville High School jointly announced the hiring of Jess Preston as its new head swim coach July 16. Preston comes to Noblesville from Penn High School and Irish Aquatics in Mishawaka. He had been head coach of Penn’s boys and girls teams since 2008, leading them to multiple trips to the IHSAA State Swimming and Diving finals.

16-year prison term handed down to Indianapolis man for aggravated battery and drug possession
On Friday, a judge sentenced an Indianapolis resident to 16 years in prison for his role in a shooting that occurred in October 2021, as well as for a drug possession charge. IMPD officers of the Northwest District swiftly responded to a call reporting a shooting incident on October 18, 2021, in the 5500 block of W 38th Street. As per their report, they found an adult female with injuries that matched gunshot wounds upon arrival. She was immediately taken to a local hospital where she is now in stable condition. The IMPD has commenced an investigation into the matter.
