WYOMING COUNTY , WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman breaks into a home, drinks a bottle of baby medicine, and damages the property.

On the morning of July 18th, 2024, Deputy Zach Cook from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office rushed to Wyoming County, West Virginia, to respond to a report of Breaking and Entering that was in progress.

Arriving around 5 am, Deputy Cook spotted a woman walking along the road, later identified as Sarah Lane. Deputy Cook recognized her from an earlier encounter that same night. Upon noticing Deputy Cook, Ms. Lane ran towards the nearby woods.

Deputy Cook managed to catch up to her and detained her to investigate the original complaint. Deputy Cook then spoke with the person who made the complaint and was informed that Ms. Lane had broken into the house and forcefully entered the bedroom by kicking the door.

She had rummaged through various household items and consumed a bottle of baby medicine. An inspection of the house revealed damage to the bedroom door, with the frame split and the door dented.

Additionally, a clock and other items were damaged due to the force used to kick in the door. A tool bag in a closet had been disturbed, and an almost empty bottle of baby sleep medicine was found on the counter, damaging the back door and window frame.

Deputy Cook documented these findings and gathered statements from the victim. Earlier that night, Deputy Cook had responded to a complaint involving Ms. Lane trespassing on the same street.

She had been asked to leave the property but remained, displaying erratic behavior such as screaming, cussing, and interacting with imaginary people, indicating possible drug influence.

Deputy Cook escorted her off the property and subsequently arrested her. Ms. Lane was then taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. The estimated value of the property loss is approximately $250.

She has been charged with burglary, Obstruction of an officer, and destruction of property.
