WYOMING — Saturday marks the return of an annual festival celebrating all things peach.

The Wyoming Peach Festival, which expects up to 12,000 visitors, will take place along Railroad Avenue, from Southern Boulevard to Front Street, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Organizers say the event began in 1990 and has been staged on the first Saturday of August every year except 2020. It is free to attend the festivities, which recognize the Delaware peach industry.

It was originally put on in cooperation with Fifer Orchards for its annual customer appreciation day.

Among the activities Saturday will be a craft show with over 200 vendors, plus around 20 food trucks from all over Delmarva.

Also featured will be several items for raffles provided by local businesses, like a one-month membership to the Dover YMCA, four tickets to the Dover Skating Center and a gift box from Camden Cigars.

Another annual favorite is the peach dessert contest, the entry form for which is available at wyoming.delaware.gov/peach-festival . Winners in the competition’s youth and adult divisions will earn cash.

Live music will be performed on two stages: the train platform and at Tre Sorelle Dolce.

Organizers ask that only service pets be brought to the festival.

Free parking is available at Fred Fifer III Middle School, W.B. Simpson Elementary School and Wyoming Church, and shuttles will be running.

Parking for the disabled, with the proper license plate or tag, will be provided at Pippin Funeral Home.

For information, visit the festival’s Facebook page .
