WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they arrested two men allegedly trying to steal cooking oil from Pizza Loven.

On July 6 officers said while patrolling they recognized a truck traveling on Wyoming Avenue that was known to commit oil thefts in the area. Police say they started following the vehicle when it turned into the Pizza Loven parking lot.

The suspects were identified as Carlos Alfredo Pinas Vargas and Jorge Vargas.

During questioning, the suspects claimed to work for “Ecua Cooking Oil Recycle” and were sent to Pizza Loven to get the oil and take it back to New Jersey, according to the Wyoming Area Regional Police Department.

The suspects were not able to give police the name of the “employee” from Pizza Loven that they were purchasing the oil from. As a result, the vehicle was impounded, and the suspects were arrested.

The owner of Pizza Loven told police that they did not permit anyone to remove oil from the property.

The suspects were charged, and remain in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
