Wyoming High School Boys Soccer Standings: April 8, 2024
The Wyoming High School boys' soccer season has completed four weeks of its 2024 season. The standings shifted in all four divisions due to several conference matches last week. Powell and Cody share the top spot in the 3A West, while Worland and Torrington share the 3A East lead. In 4A, Kelly Walsh vaulted to the top of the 4A West with a win over Jackson, and Cheyenne Central continues to lead the 4A East. The standings include all matches played through April 6, 2024.
Wyoming High School Girls Soccer Standings: April 8, 2024
Four weeks of the 2024 high school girls' soccer season in Wyoming have been played. With several conference matches last week, there was a lot of movement in the standings. Defending champions Cody and Kelly Walsh, and Worland and Laramie lead their respective conferences. This standings update includes all matches played through April 6, 2024.
Star Valley’s Valerie Jirak Wins Heptathlon at the Arcadia Invitational in California
Star Valley senior Valerie Jirak displayed her terrific all-around skills in track and field with a victory at the Arcadia Invitational in California on Friday and Saturday. Jirak scored 4,920 points through the seven events and won by nearly 400 points over the next closest competitor in the heptathlon. In addition, she set two school records during the event.
Kasey Carr of Jackson Commits to Kansas State for Rodeo

Powell’s Gunnar Erickson Signs with NWC for Basketball
Powell boys basketball player Gunnar Erickson certainly had a season to remember in 2024 as his team not only won the 3A State Championship but also finished the year 26-0. Erickson will stay right at home to continue his basketball career as he has signed with the Trappers of Northwest College.
PhotoFest: Kelly Walsh Invite Track Meet
Ten schools took part in the Trojan Invite Track Meet hosted by Kelly Walsh in Casper on Friday. Those teams took advantage of some favorable weather this time of year with the Thunder Basin girls placing 1st in the team standings. The Bolts rolled up 156 points with Kelly Walsh taking 2nd at 128.9, Lander 3rd with 121, Natrona 4th with 88.7, and Cody 5th with 82.7.
Sheridan’s Callista Roush Signs with Black Hills St. for Track
Sheridan's Callista Roush started her prep athletic career on the soccer pitch and appeared in 18 matches with a goal and 3 assists in her sophomore year. Then she switched over to track and field and her efforts so far got her a spot at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Photofest: Cheyenne East Track Meet
The annual Okie Blanchard Invite Track Meet was held on Friday at Cheyenne East and the weather was just plain great. On the ladies' side, Cheyenne East finished first in the team standings with 141 points, Laramie took 2nd with 114, Central 3rd at 83, Torrington 4th with 79 and Southeast was 5th with 55.
Wyoming Legion Baseball Scoreboard: April 5-7, 2024
The American Legion baseball regular season for 2024 in Wyoming starts this week with four teams in action. Sheridan will host defending Single-A state champion Powell in a twin bill on Friday night. The games were originally scheduled for Saturday, but to beat the weather, they were moved to Friday. The Gillette Riders and Gillette Rustlers are hosting Miles City, MT.
Wyoming Legion Baseball’s 2024 Season is Upon Us
The boys of summer are back. The 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball season is here. There are a few changes to highlight regarding the four divisions of play around the state this year. Most of those are minor. There are 21 cities involved with legion baseball in the state in 2024.
Jackson’s Andrew Hanna Commits to Hobart College for Basketball
Andrew Hanna of Jackson has been a scoring and rebounding monster for the last 3 seasons and will be headed to Western New York to play for Hobart College. At 6-8, he could do some damage in the paint and averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game this past season. He shot 58% from the floor with a 30-point game against Green River and an 18 rebound game vs. Evanston. Hanna was named All-State in 4A for his efforts as the Broncs qualified for the 4A State Tournament.

Three soccer players swept the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors for April 3, 2024. Lyman junior Karly Sabey and Green River sophomore Isabel Vasco shared the girls’ award. Mountain View junior Nash Piekkola was the boys’ honoree. They were chosen for their terrific performances during the week of March 25 through March 30, 2024.
Wyoming High School Spring Golf Scoreboard: April 5-6, 2024
The 2024 spring high school golf season starts this week with two events on the schedule, weather permitting. Douglas and Worland are hosting on Friday. This is Week 2 of the spring golf season, but since many were on Spring Break last week, and a lot of courses were not open, this week starts the spring sprint. Originally, Upton was to host on Saturday, but that was canceled due to course conditions.
Wyoming High School Outdoor Track Scoreboard: April 3-6, 2024
The fourth week of the 2024 high school outdoor track season in Wyoming is busy. This week features the most track meets on the schedule so far this season. Worland, Cheyenne, Rock Springs, Glenrock, Casper, and Greybull are slated to host in-state track meets on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. A few teams are going to Colorado or South Dakota for action. A select few athletes will compete with the best in the country at the Arcadia Invitational in California.
PhotoFest! Kelly Walsh Sweeps Natrona in Soccer
Kelly Walsh played host to Natrona on the soccer pitch on Tuesday night and you have to get those matches in while the weather is favorable. The Kelly Walsh girls are the defending 4A State Champions and return plenty of talent for the 2024 season. Natrona did not qualify for the 2023 State Tournament but they certainly have enough returning skill to be competitive.
