Jackson’s Taya McClennen: WyoPreps Athlete of the Year Girls Soccer 2023-24 [VIDEO]
The first winner of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year award for Girls’ Soccer, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear, goes to Jackson Hole High School’s Taya McClennen. She was one of the top scorers in Class 4A during the 2024 season and helped the Broncs to a runner-up finish at the 4A state championships last month.
Jackson’s Teddy Opler Selected the 2023-24 Gatorade Wyoming Boys Soccer Player of the Year
After a big senior season that included a team state championship and the most points among Class 4A boys’ soccer players, Jackson Hole High School forward Teddy Opler was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Wyoming Boys Soccer Player of the Year. In its 39th year of honoring the best high school athletes in the nation, The Gatorade Company released this year’s award winner on Friday.

The inaugural recipient of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year award for Boys’ Soccer, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear, goes to Jackson Hole High School’s Teddy Opler. He was the leading scorer in Class 4A during the 2024 season and helped the Broncs win the Class 4A state championship last month.
Natrona’s Kaiden Lee: WyoPreps Athlete of the Year Boys Indoor Track 2023-24 [VIDEO]
The first winner of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year honor for Boys’ Indoor Track, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear, goes to Kaiden Lee from Natrona County High School in Casper. In his three jumping events, Lee was nearly perfect during the indoor track season and won all three at the Wyoming High School Indoor Track State Championships in March.
Wyoming-Montana All-Star Basketball Preview 2024 [VIDEO]
The annual Wyoming versus Montana all-star basketball series returns to the court on Friday and Saturday. The first games will be at the Pronghorn Center at Gillette College. The series shifts to Lockwood High School in Billings, MT, on Saturday. The girls’ game starts at 5 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 7 p.m., both days.
Homer Scott Outstanding Citizen Winners Honored at Shrine Bowl
The initial class of the Homer Scott Outstanding Citizen Award winners was introduced at the Shrine Bowl earlier this month with one player selected from each classification from Wyoming High School football. These players volunteer their time and effort to better their community. Homer Scott was a long-time supporter of high school and youth athletics in Sheridan. He was a star football player for Sheridan in the 1950s and went on to the University of Colorado.
WyoPreps Boys Basketball Athlete of the Year 2023-24: Central’s Joe Sawyer [VIDEO]
The WyoPreps Athlete of the Year accolade for Boys’ Basketball is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear. Our first winner was Cheyenne Central High School’s Joe Sawyer. The Gatorade Player of the Year winner led the Indians to a 25-3 overall record and the Class 4A state championship in 2024.
Cody’s Molly Hays: WyoPreps Girls Basketball Athlete of the Year 2023-24 [VIDEO]
The inaugural recipient of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year award for Girls’ Basketball, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear, was Cody High School’s Molly Hays. The two-time Gatorade Player of the Year was a four-time all-state selection by the coaches in her prep career. She had an outstanding 2023-24 high school season cut short by an injury.
Olson, Graves, and Wilson Snag WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Awards 6-12-24 [VIDEO]
A pair of cowgirls and a baseball player earned the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors. The selections were Sheridan's Abagail Olson, Wheatland trap shooter Jessie Graves, and Evanston Outlaws baseball player Walker Wilson. Those three were honored for their performances from June 3 through June 9, 2024.
Photofest: Boys State Rodeo Finals
The State Rodeo Finals for the boys was in Rock Springs last week with the guys vying for a spot in the National High School Finals that will be in Rock Springs July 14-20. The top 4 in each event based on the entire season punched their ticket to Nationals and the State Finals was a big boost in that regard. Douglas’ Trennan Pearson Commits to Black Hills State for Track and Field
Douglas grad Trennan Pearson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in track and field at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. Pearson was a four-time qualifier for the state track championships. He won four 3A East Regional titles in his career. Pearson competed in three events at the state track meet in 2023 and 2024.
Trey Rinn of Douglas Chooses to Play Hoops in College
Douglas standout Trey Rinn will continue with basketball at the next level after signing with Northwest College in Powell, WY. The 6-1 shooting guard was a two-time all-state and three-time all-conference selection in his career at Douglas High School. He was chosen to the conference’s all-defensive team during his junior and senior seasons. Rinn was named the 3A East Conference Player of the Year in 2023. The Bearcats had a 74-10 record during his three seasons at the varsity level.
Big Piney’s Reuben Stoutenburg Reached 1,000 Points in the 2024 Basketball Season
Big Piney’s Reuben Stoutenburg joined the 1,000-point club on the basketball court during the 2023-24 season, his senior campaign. Stoutenburg was an all-state selection in 2024 and a two-time all-conference pick by the coaches in high school. He was a two-year starter and three-year letter-winner for the Punchers. Lyman’s Paige Rose Will Further Her Volleyball Career at Gillette College
Paige Rose, from Lyman, has signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Gillette College. Rose was an all-conference selection in the 2023 season. She helped the Eagles take third place at the 3A state volleyball tournament last fall. Rose led the state in digs during the 2023...

Wyoming Legion Baseball Scoreboard: June 10-16, 2024
It is Week 11 of the Wyoming Legion Baseball season in 2024. There are six conference twin bills on this week’s schedule. While there are a few other games on the slate, most of this week’s action revolves around tournaments. There are two in-state tournaments in Jackson and Laramie. Teams are also playing in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, and Nebraska. Fourteen teams are playing in tournaments this week.
Wyoming Legion Baseball Standings: June 10, 2024
Ten weeks of the 2024 Legion baseball season are in the books. Sheridan moved to the top of the AA standings with a home sweep of Cheyenne. The Casper Drillers and Cheyenne Eagles lead the A East. Cody moved to the top of the A Northwest, while Green River and Evanston are tied atop the A Southwest. Only two teams at the top two levels of American Legion Baseball in the state have not played a conference game yet. The standings include all games played through June 9, 2024.
Wyoming Shrine Bowl Postgame Remarks
Back on Saturday, the North defeated the South 45-7 to win the 51st annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl All-Star Football game. Sheridan's Dane Steel capped an incredible prep athletic career with 10 catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Needless to say, he is a different breed of athlete. Buffalo's Eli Patterson was around the ball a lot with 19 defensive points with Lovell's Jared Mangus turning in a 57-yard interception return for a touchdown.
