PhotoFest! 4A East Regional Track Meet
The 4A East Regional Track Meet was held at Cheyenne South over the weekend and there was a group of some very talented athletes in this event. In the girl's team standings, Sheridan placed 1st with 175 points, Thunder Basin 2nd with 109, and Cheyenne East 3rd with 108. Sheridan also placed first in the boy's team standings with 186 points, Cheyenne Central took 2nd with 126.5, and Natrona 3rd with 124. Here is the rundown of the top 2 finishers in each event.
Wyoming Legion Baseball Scoreboard: May 13-19, 2024
Welcome to Week 7 of the Wyoming Legion Baseball season in 2024. One postponed conference twin bill in AA is on the slate this week. The first big tournament is this weekend in Rock Springs, as the Stallions host the Southwest Series from Friday through next Monday. Six teams are involved from the state. Some 9-inning games are on the schedule during the week before another busy weekend of action on Saturday and Sunday.
Wyoming Legion Baseball Standings: May 13, 2024
Wyoming American Legion Baseball teams have finished six weeks of the 2024 season. The Cheyenne Sixers lead the AA standings with six conference wins. Both Casper and the Cheyenne Hawks picked up their first league victory against each other. No conference games have been played so far at the A level. There are still two teams that have not played a game yet. The standings include all games played through May 12, 2024.
Wyoming High School Softball Standings: May 13, 2024
The 2024 regular season for high school softball in Wyoming is almost done. There is one regular season doubleheader left on Tuesday in Casper. After that, eight teams will battle for a championship at the state tournament in Gillette. Cody in the West and Campbell County in the East are the regular season conference champions. One spot at the state tournament is still to be determined. This standings update includes all games played through May 11, 2024.

Wyoming High School Soccer State Championships Scoreboard 2024
It is State Championship week for Wyoming High School soccer. The season’s culminating event will be in Green River and Rock Springs on May 16-18, 2024. Four teams will earn a state championship by the end of Saturday. Class 3A matches are at the turf fields at Green River High School and Lincoln Middle School. Turf fields at Rock Springs High School and Rock Springs Junior High are being utilized to host 4A matches for the three-day event.
PhotoFest! 1A West Regional Track Meet
The 1A West Regional Track Meet was hosted by Shoshoni over the weekend with favorable weather so it gave the athletes a great chance to do their best. Plus, spots for the State Meet were on the line so there was no shortage of motivation. In the boy's team standings, Burlington was the runaway winner with 183.5 points, Riverside was 2nd with 76, and Dubois 3rd with 75.
PhotoFest! 2A West Regional Track Meet
Shoshoni had some very pleasant weather conditions as they played host to the 2A West Regional Track Meet over the weekend. It was time and place to get qualified for the State Meet which is this week in Casper and a meet like this could be a big confidence booster. On the boy's side of the meet, Big Piney took 1st in the team standings with 171 points, Kemmerer 2nd with 140, and Wyoming Indian placed 3rd with 106.
PhotoFest: 3A East Regional Track Meet
The regional track meets were held over the weekend with spots at the State Meet on the line plus a momentum builder for the big show in Casper starting on Thursday. Wheatland was the host of the 3A East regional with great weather conditions, all things considered. On the boy's side of the meet, Douglas placed 1st with 190 points, Buffalo 2nd with 160.66, and Wheatland 3rd with 102. For the ladies, Buffalo accumulated 190.5 for 1st, Torrington 2nd with 140, and Douglas 3rd with 117.5. Here is the list of the top 2 finishers in each event.
Worland’s Manaia Peterson Furthers Her Track Career at Iowa Central
Worland senior Manaia Peterson will continue her track and field career in college after signing at Iowa Central Community College. Peterson is a four-time qualifier for the state track championships during her Warriors career, and last year, she helped Worland place second in the girls’ team standings. Peterson has pre-qualified for next week’s state track meet in the 3A discus after a toss of 122-08 at the Bobcat Invite in Thermopolis on May 3, 2024. That throw currently ranks her fourth in 3A.
Reed McFadden of Lander Signs with Princeton for Track & Field
Lander's Reed McFadden has been one of the brightest stars in the Wyoming High School Track circuit and he's going to take his skills to the Ivy League. McFadden has committed to Princeton University in New Jersey to compete in the 400 meters and the heptathlon. At the State 3A...
Jackson’s Justin Castagno Commits to Wartburg College for Football
Jackson Broncs senior Justin Castagno has signed to play football at Wartburg College in Iowa. He was an all-conference linebacker for the Broncs and led the team in defensive points the last two seasons. Castagno finished with 112 defensive points in the 2023 season. He made 71 total tackles, an average of 7.9 per game. Castagno had six tackles for loss, a half sack, and one pass breakup. He was No. 15 in defensive points per game in Class 3A at 12.4. Jackson went 3-6 last fall and 1-4 in the 3A West Conference.
Gillette’s Payge Riedesel Chooses Volleyball at Gillette College
Campbell County senior Payge Riedesel has signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball in her hometown at Gillette College. Riedesel was an all-state selection in the 2023 season and a two-time all-conference choice by the coaches. As a senior, she helped Campbell County to a 4A state tournament appearance, their first since 2017. The Camels had an overall record of 28-10 and a 4-2 mark in the 4A Northeast Quadrant.
Cody Softball and Jackson Soccer Players Snag WyoPreps Athletes of the Week 5-8-24 [VIDEO]
Teammates from the Cody Fillies softball team and the Jackson boys’ soccer team have won the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week awards for May 8, 2024. The girls’ honor went to Cody seniors Violet Wollschlager and Riley Simone. The boys’ award went to Jackson senior Teddy Opler and junior Augie Hoelscher. These players were selected for their efforts in the week of April 29 through May 5, 2024.
Keaton Mills of Sundance Signs with Chadron State for Football
Keaton Mills of Sundance has excelled athletically in 3 sports but football is his passion so he will be taking his talent to Chadron State in Nebraska. In the 2023 football season for Upton-Sundance, Mills was named 2A All-State and ran for 466 yards and 5 touchdowns. He rang up 192 yards rushing against Glenrock and also threw for 1181 yards as the Patriots quarterback with 10 touchdown passes. Mills was also a factor on defense as he had 69 tackles and blocked 4 punts.

Girls Shuffle the Top 5 in the New WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls
New top-ranked teams in girls’ soccer and a couple of ties highlight the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls. Powell and Kelly Walsh take over the top spots in 3A and 4A girls’ soccer. There were also ties in the 3A girls and 4A boys’ rankings. Class 4A teams are entering the regional tournaments this weekend, while 3A teams are wrapping up the regular season.
Wyoming High School Regional Track Scoreboard: May 10-11, 2024
The first of the two-part Wyoming High School track and field postseason is this weekend, as the regional track meets are at six locations in the state. Shoshoni and Sundance will host two regional competitions, while the rest will host one track meet. Those are in Cheyenne, Mountain View, Rock Springs, and Wheatland. Some individuals and relay teams have pre-qualified for next week’s state track meet. At regionals, the top eight in individual events and the top four in relays will also qualify for next week’s state championships in Casper.
