Anderson and Mills Earn WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Honors [VIDEO]
A young softball player and a senior track athlete received the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors for March 27, 2024. Rock Springs freshman catcher Tarin Anderson and Sundance senior Keaton Mills were selected for their terrific performances during the week of March 18 through March 23, 2024.
New Teams Join the Latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Rankings
In the third WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls of the 2024 season, five new teams joined the rankings that were released on Wednesday. There was a tie for fifth in both Class 3A girls’ and boys’ divisions. Class 4A girls saw a team re-enter the poll. The four top-ranked teams kept their spot.
Cheyenne East Jumps to the Top of the WyoPreps Softball Poll
A new No. 1 and a new team entered the top five of the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll on Wednesday. Last week’s conference sweep of the top two teams has pushed Cheyenne East to the top of the rankings. A 4-1 start to their season helped Laramie make their poll debut in 2024. Those were the big changes in the latest rankings.
Sheridan’s Landrum Wiley Commits to Black Hills State
Landrum Wiley from Sheridan has a proven track record in track and field in the distance races and will take those skills eastbound on I-90 to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. He enjoyed a solid 2024 4A State Indoor Track and Field Meet in Gillette with a 2nd place finish in the 1600-meter run in 4.33.32 and a 2nd place finish in the 3200 with a time of 9.48.68. In his junior season, he placed 8th at the 4A State Indoor Meet in both the 1600 and the 3200.

Mountain View’s Fletcher Black Picks Chadron State for Football
Mountain View senior Fletcher Black will continue his football career after signing at Chadron State College in Nebraska. Black was an all-conference player for the Buffalos during the 2023 season. He helped Mountain View to a 10-1 record last fall and a semifinal appearance in the Class 2A playoffs. They won the 2A West Conference regular season title. The Buffaloes were 6-0 in conference games.
Wyoming High School Outdoor Track Scoreboard: March 26-30, 2024
The 2024 Wyoming High School outdoor track season has reached Week 3. Teams are competing over five days this week. Several school districts are on Spring Break this week, so several teams are not competing. Lyman, Pavillion, Wheatland, Burlington, Buffalo, and Rock Springs are slated to host in-state track meets. Some teams are heading to Utah or Nebraska for action.
Wyoming High School Boys Soccer Scoreboard: March 26-29, 2024
Only a few matches are on the prep boys’ soccer slate for Wyoming high school teams in Week 3. With several school districts on Spring Break this week, the 2024 schedule was built around that, so there are only six matches. Five are conference contests, with one in 4A and four in Class 3A. Torrington goes to Nebraska for a non-conference match.
Wyoming High School Girls Soccer Scoreboard: March 26-29, 2024
High school girls’ soccer in Wyoming is into Week 3 of the 2024 season. This week features a very light schedule due to so many schools being on Spring Break this week. There is only one match in Class 4A and only four matches in Class 3A. All of those will be conference matches. Torrington will also play a team from nearby Nebraska.
David West of Lusk Signs with Chadron State for Track
David West of Lusk is a solid all-around athlete and will continue his track and field career at Chadron State College in Nebraska. At the 2023 State Outdoor Track Meet, West placed 6th in the 2A 800-meter run in 2.02.91 and holds the school record in that event. He took 14th in the 2A 1600 meters with a clocking of 5.02.58. West also competed in the 2A pole vault and cleared 10-6 to place 9th.

The Week 3 slate for Wyoming High School softball teams in 2024 is extremely light due to several schools that are on Spring Break. Teams either didn’t schedule games during this week or moved games to later in the season because of Spring Break and missing players. For now, only one doubleheader is on the schedule.

Wyoming High School Softball Standings: March 25, 2024
The first two weeks of the 2024 spring high school softball season in Wyoming are complete. Nearly every school has played at least one conference game. That has shifted the standings in both conferences. It's still early because seven weeks remain in the regular season before teams reach the state tournament. Here are the current standings for all games played through March 23, 2024.
PhotoFest: Worland Soccer Tournament
The Pinnacle Cup Soccer Tournament was held in Worland on Friday and Saturday with decent weather and plenty of action. At times, 4 matches were going on at the same time on the Worland campus. In the boys bracket, defending 3A state champion Worland beat Torrington 4-2 in the title match. The Warriors went 3-0 in the tourney and Torrington went 2-1. Green River took 3rd with a 1-0 win over Buffalo as the Wolves went 2-1 and the Bison went 1-2. Newcastle defeated Powell 4-2 for 5th place with both teams going 2-2 for the weekend. Douglas was 2-1, Lyman was 1-3 and Pinedale was 1-3.
