PhotoFest! Newcastle Track Meet
Newcastle was the site of the annual Laura Cord Track Meet back on Thursday that featured a combination of Wyoming and South Dakota. In the boy's team standings, Thunder Basin was first with 209 points, Custer, South Dakota was 2nd with 80, Hill City, South Dakota 3rd with 74, Upton 4th with 48 and Newcastle took 5th with 39.5.

The spring season is moving with amazingly good weather for the most part in the latter part of March. It was a much different story in the spring of 2023, that's for sure. The track, softball, and soccer athletes were out there with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. We have a long way to go in the spring season with the usual weather issues, so let's enjoy it while we can.
Wyatt Herther of Campbell County Inks with SD School of Mines
Offensive linemen are usually the unsung heroes of football and Campbell County had one of the best in the state in Wyatt Herther. He played a major role in pass protection for quarterback Mason Drube as the Camels had the #2 passing attack in 4A this past season and the #3 offense. Herther will take those skills to Rapid City to join the South Dakota School of Mines football program.
Evanston’s Brenna Fackrell Signs with Chadron St. for Track
Evanston track athlete Brenna Fackrell will be taking her skills to the Division II college level at Chadron State in Nebraska. She will be competing in the heptathlon which involves the 200-meter dash, the 100-meter hurdles, the 800-meter run along with the long jump, the high jump, the shot-put, and the javelin.
2024 Wyoming High School Boys Basketball Final Standings
The high school boys' basketball season in Wyoming for 2024 is in the books. Here are the final records for all the teams around the state. These are based on games played from Dec. 7, 2023, through March 9, 2024. Congratulations to the state champions this year, the Upton Bobcats in Class 1A, the Wyoming Indian Chiefs in Class 2A, the Powell Panthers in Class 3A, and the Cheyenne Central Indians in Class 4A.

Cheyenne Central’s Joe Sawyer Selected 2023-24 Gatorade Wyoming Boys Basketball Player of the Year
Cheyenne Central High School has a Gatorade Wyoming Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the first time in program history. Senior Joe Sawyer was chosen for the 2023-24 award on Thursday. In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company announced Sawyer as the winner via a release to the media.

New WyoPreps Soccer Rankings Has Votes Spread Among 4A Girls’ Teams
Two new teams and a new No. 1 in the 4A girls’ division highlight the second WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls of the 2024 season. The other top-ranked teams held their spot from the preseason poll to these second rankings. The number of teams receiving votes did expand, especially in 4A girls’ soccer.

Aubrey DeWine of Campbell County Inks with Black Hills State
Aubrey DeWine of Campbell County is a fantastic 3-sport athlete and she has decided on volleyball for the next step on her sports journey. She will be joining the Black Hills State program and DeWine is a two-time All-State selection in 4A and recorded 312 digs in her senior season with 41 aces. In her junior year, DeWine rang up 278 kills and 274 digs plus she was an All-Conference pick in her sophomore year. In her volleyball career with the Camels, DeWine had 787 digs, 761 kills 158 blocks, and a .167 attack percentage.
Maddix Blazovich of Rock Springs Commits to Idaho State for Track
In track and field, pole vaulting is not for everybody on the athletic side but it sure fun to watch. Vaulters need power, speed, and the right mental approach to succeed. Maddix Blazovich of Rock Springs seems to have this all figured out and will taking his skills to Idaho State University in the fall.

The prep boys’ soccer season in Wyoming rolls into Week 2 with conference play for Class 4A teams and a big tournament for a majority of 3A schools. Worland will host the Pinnacle Cup with nine Class 3A teams playing on Friday and Saturday. Cody and Rawlins do not play this week.
Wyoming High School Girls Soccer Scoreboard: March 19-23, 2024
The second week of Wyoming High School girls’ soccer has a mix of conference matches and tournament play. Class 4A teams play their first league games of the 2024 season. Nine of the 13 Class 3A schools are playing in the Pinnacle Cup in Worland on Friday and Saturday. There are a couple of schools that are not playing this week. Kelly Walsh is participating in a tournament in Alabama.
Wyoming High School Softball Scoreboard: March 19-23, 2024
High school softball teams have their first full week of action in the 2024 season. Week 2 has the first conference games of the season. The top four ranked teams will square off in Cheyenne on Friday and Saturday. Also, after last week’s Cheyenne Softball Invitational was canceled a revised one-day event will take place on Tuesday for six teams that didn’t play last weekend. The schedule is subject to change.
Wyoming High School Outdoor Track Scoreboard: March 18-23, 2024
Week 2 of the prep track and field season in Wyoming sees teams competing in-state and out-of-state this week. It’s that time of year, when Spring Break occurs, which means some schools won’t compete. That will be the case for the next couple of weeks. There are three meets in the state on Thursday. Some schools are going out of state on various days this week.
Campbell County’s Cami Curtis Signs with Black Hills St.
Cami Curtis enjoyed a solid senior season in basketball as her Campbell County team reached the 4A State Championship game. The Camels did lose to Sheridan in the title contest but Curtis had a tremendous game against the Broncs with 26 points on 9-16 from the floor and 5-7 from the free-throw line That 26-point effort was a season-high and threw in 21 points on 9-16 shooting in their first-round State Tournament game against Kelly Walsh. For the season, Curtis averaged 13 points a game and connected on 50, 3-point shots. Those kinds of stats not only earned Curtis a spot on the 4A All-State team but a scholarship to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.
