2024 Wyoming HS 3A-4A Girls Basketball Regional Scoreboard
Wyoming High School girls’ basketball teams in Class 3A and 4A move into the 2024 postseason with regional tournaments on Thursday through Saturday. Two wins qualify a team for the state tournament next week in Casper. Two losses and a team is eliminated. Green River, Rawlins, Sheridan, and Thermopolis are the four sites for the regional tournaments this weekend. This schedule is according to brackets sent to WyoPreps. It is subject to change.
Photofest! State Wrestling-2A Finals
Moorcroft has been a powerhouse in 2A wrestling for quite some time as the Wolves had a string of state titles between 2013-2020. After a 3 year absence from the top of the podium, Moorcroft outlasted Kemmerer 236-103 for the team gold medal getting valuable points in the wrestle-back rounds. Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast was 3rd with 174, Big Piney 4th with 160 and Thermopolis took 5th with 159 points.

Green River repeated as the 3A State Champions in wrestling with 5 titlists that were crowned on Saturday in Casper. Kale Knezovich earned his 4th State Championship as he won the 157-pound weight class. He's one of just 30 wrestlers to win 4 state titles and was hurt most of this season. His teammate Lucas Todd won his 2nd state championship as he prevailed at 113 pounds.

The State 4A Wrestling Tournament this year featured not one but two 4-time state champions. This is an elite group of wrestlers and only 30 have achieved that distinction since 1947. 138-pounder Broc Fletcher of Rock Springs won his 4th on Saturday in Casper as well as Antonio Avila of Thunder Basin at 144. Liam Fox of Cheyenne East is a 3-time state champion as he took the top of the podium at 150 and Sheridan's Dane Steel won his 3rd, wrestling at 165. Star Valley's Tel Parry was a repeat champ as he took 1st at 132. Thunder Basin had a whopping 160 points at the tourney with Sheridan 2nd with 194.5, Cheyenne East 3rd with 187.5, Rock Springs 4th with 182, and Star Valley 5th with 175.5.
PhotoFest: State Wrestling-Girls Finals
The Girls State Wrestling Tournament wrapped up in Casper on Saturday with plenty of excitement and enthusiasm. This was the 2nd year that the girls had a stand-alone State Tournament for the the 2nd year in a row, Star Valley won the team championship. The Braves had just one champion but rang up 163 points to easily outdistance Pinedale who accumulated 107 points. Sheridan was right behind the Wranglers for 3rd with 106, Kemmerer was 4th with 96 and Wind River was 5th with 95.
2024 Wyoming HS Boys Basketball 1A-2A State Championships
The final weekend is here for small school boys’ basketball teams. Two squads will earn a state championship during the first weekend in March 2024. The Class 1A and 2A boys’ basketball state tournaments will be in Casper at the Ford Wyoming Center and Casper College. Only one of the two defending champions will have a chance to repeat after qualifying for the state tournament. The two-time defending champion in Class 2A is the Pine Bluffs Hornets. Burlington won the 2023 1A boys’ title, but the Huskies did not qualify this year.
2024 Wyoming HS Girls Basketball 1A-2A State Championships
Two teams will win a state championship on the first weekend in March 2024. The Class 1A and 2A girls’ basketball state tournaments will be in Casper at the Ford Wyoming Center (FWC) and Casper College (CC). Both defending champions will have a shot to repeat after qualifying for the state tournament. The defending champion in Class 2A is the Burns Broncs. The Upton Bobcats are the defending champion in Class 1A.
2024 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championship Scoreboard
Casper skiers swept the Day 2 races at the 2024 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championships on Casper Mountain on Saturday. Defending champion Ally Wheeler finished with her second title of the weekend. She blew away the competition in the 10km Classic race by well over two minutes. FiskBergstrom Johansson of Kelly Walsh won the boys' Classic race by 29 seconds. The Lander girls and Kelly Walsh boys won the team championships in 2024.

PhotoFest! State Wrestling-Quarterfinals
The State Wrestling Tournament moved into its 2nd day at the Ford Center in Casper. The quarterfinal round started the day followed by a round of wrestlebacks. The semi-finals will be late Friday afternoon and headed into that round, defending champion Star Valley leads the girl's teams standings with Sheridan 2nd, Wind River 3rd, Pinedale 4th, and Kemmerer 5th.
WyoPreps Spotlight: Cheyenne Central Diver Brady Benne [VIDEO]
Cheyenne Central freshman Brady Benne capped a big first year of high school diving with a state championship last weekend. Benne rolled to the Class 4A diving title with 460.15 points. He won by over 83 points. It concluded a dominating first season for the former gymnast. His efforts helped the Cheyenne Central Indians take second place in the team standings.
Eight Share the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Honor [VIDEOS]
Six swimmers and two basketball players received The Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors for Feb. 21, 2024. Caleb Brewer from Cheyenne South, Ben Forsythe of Sheridan, Lander’s Benn Kulow and Finn Richards, Malachi Villarreal from Kemmer, and Buffalo’s Tommy Wonka had big performances at the boys’ state swim championships. Upton’s Sophie Louderback and Buffalo’s Karly Davis split the girls’ award. These are based on performances from Feb. 12 through Feb. 17, 2024.

Sheridan’s Ben Forsythe burst on the scene of 4A boys’ swimming during the 2023-24 season. The sophomore capped his year with a pair of wins at the Class 4A Boys’ Swimming and Diving State Championships in Laramie last week. He was one of two individuals, who won two events at the state swim meet.

Class 4A and 3A boys’ basketball teams in Wyoming conclude their regular season this weekend. Some of the league games have an impact on the seeding at regional basketball tournaments next week. Wyoming High School State Wrestling Scoreboard 2024
The 2024 Wyoming high school wrestling season will conclude in Casper from February 22-24 at the Ford Wyoming Center. Girls will be competing in their 2nd state championship with more teams competing this year. 2A, 3A, and 4A boys' will be wrestling following the girls on all seven mats for the three days.
Natrona’s Lexie Ransom Signs with Southern Wesleyan for Basketball
Natrona basketball player Lexie Ransom will be headed back to South Carolina and play at the college level for Southern Wesleyan. As a sophomore, she averaged 24 points a game for her Seneca, SC. team and played at Natrona for 2 years. She was an All-Conference selection in her junior year as she averaged 10 points a game and shot a remarkable 54% from the floor. This season, she has been the leading scorer for the Fillies averaging 11 points per game and had a 24 point effort vs. Riverton and a 20 point game vs. Thunder Basin. She also has played with the NOCO Triple Threat Club team with some very talented teammates from the State of Wyoming.
Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Feb. 23-24, 2024
The 2024 high school alpine skiing regular season will conclude in Jackson during Week 10 of the season. It’s the Pinedale Invitational, but due to the conditions at the White Pines Ski Area outside of Pinedale, the ski meet got moved to Jackson. Skiing fans, if you are at a race and taking pictures of the race, WyoPreps would like to use them with your permission.
