CHAMPION, Ohio (WKBN) – Champion senior Taylor Kuhn made it official this week, signing with John Carroll University, where she will continue both her academic and soccer career.

“It’s a really good feeling just to be able to experience playing at the next level because I didn’t feel like I was done after high school,” says Kuhn. “I definitely felt like there was more.”

Kuhn has been a four-year varsity letter-winner with the Golden Flashes, a two-time First Team All-State selection, and the reigning conference Player of the Year.

“I try to stay positive. I feel like I have a pretty good work ethic. I do a lot outside of my practices. I run a lot, work out all the time. I’m always at the fields whenever the weather’s nice,” says Kuhn. “I just keep everybody uplifted, my team.”

That team went undefeated last season, won a District Championship and rode a 21-game winning streak into the Regional Finals.

Kuhn shattered six school records along the way and will graduate as the program’s all-time leader in points, assists and goals scored, a record she took from friend and role model Madison Luckett.

“Beating her records, it helped. She was so proud of me and she would want me to do it,” added Kuhn. “I was happy that I got to do it. Just thinking about the younger girls who might come up to high school one day and beat my record, it’s good. It’s passing on a legacy.”

Kuhn is also a competitor in the classroom with a 3.8-grade point average and a long list of clubs and volunteer work in the community.

“Definitely staying busy honestly helps me,” says Kuhn. “Coming from school and then going to practice, it’s a lot, but it keeps me together.”
