SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Sharon is looking a little scarier as Halloween approaches.

There’s a showdown to find out who’s the “stalk” of the town. The scarecrow showdown is going on for the second straight year.

Businesses are encouraged to put a scarecrow inside or outside of their business. It’s a fun opportunity to showcase downtown and create the holiday vibe.

Thirty businesses have put up scarecrows to showcase their stores and let people discover what’s there.

“If folks haven’t been to Sharon in a while, it’s changed quite a bit, and the scarecrows are maybe a hook to bring them in to have a fun stroll through town and discover the stores and restaurants and things that are here now,” said Angie Urban, with the Sharon Community Development Corporation.

The scarecrow showdown runs through November 1.
