Man says he was jumped by 4, one with sword: Report

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Warren Police Department is investigating after a man reported being ambushed by four men that he claims tried to kill him.

Police were called to the 500 block of Laird Avenue SE on Monday in reference to a man being attacked with a knife.

The man told police he got a call around 4:30 a.m. from a friend who lives a few houses down in the 400 block of Laird Avenue requesting he bring an air pump for her air mattress. He told police that when he went over to deliver the air pump, four men jumped him and dragged him into a home, according to reports.

He told officers the men took his phone, wallet, and tried to kill him, reports state.

Police noted in reports that he had a bloody lip and was only wearing shorts after the attack took place due to “the suspects ripping everything off of him.”

He told police one of the men had a sword and was threatening him with it, and that he wasn’t sure how he was able to escape. The man provided police with some suspect descriptions and said he believed they were driving a newer white model sedan, which reports state officers did not locate in the area.

During the investigation, police recovered the man’s cellphone and shoes in the front yard of the residence, with reports stating, “…it appeared [victim name] ran out of his shoes and belongings when he was trying to get away.”

Police asked the man if he wanted medical treatment, which he refused at the time.
