COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The family of a missing man is asking the public for help solving the mystery.

In May, police found Michael Clausell’s crashed vehicle in Xenia. Since then, he’s vanished without a trace.

2 NEWS spoke with the family about Clausell’s disappearance. His family is hoping someone will come forward with information about their son’s disappearance.

“Normally, he would have called his mom and let her know that he was okay,” said Michael Lee, Clausell’s father.

Michael Lee says it is totally out of character for his son Michael to disappear without warning. But now he’s worried since he hasn’t seen his son since May 3.

According to Lee, his son was driving a rental car to Dayton for a work trip.

Days later, the family received a call from the car rental company saying that their son never dropped the car back off.

On May 13, Ohio state highway patrol reported to the scene of an abandoned crashed vehicle matching that description in Xenia.

However, the family still had not heard from Clausell.

“So we figured it might have if my son was driving the car at that time when the crash that he might have been injured and went there to try to get help,” said Lee.

A crash report from Ohio State Highway Patrol shows Clausell’s vehicle was going south on east Enon Road, driving through a stop sign.

The vehicle struck a ditch, fence, and tree before stopping in a planted field, but the driver was not found.

Officers recovered Clausell’s cell phone in the car along with a pair of shoes in the field.

The family says they are determined to keep looking until they find him. They are now planning a search of the area where the vehicle crashed and are looking for volunteers.

Lee shared a message for his son:

“Well, Michael, if you are out there watching and you get this message, just call us and let us know that you are okay,” said Clausell.

If you see Michael Clausell or have any information regarding his disappearance, contact the Dayton Police or the Greene County Sheriff’s Office right away.
