XENIA, Ohio ( WDTN ) — After two others were sentenced to prison for their role in a Xenia Township shooting, the third co-defendant has now learned his own sentence.

According to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, Jahmel Morgan, 24, Dayton, was sentenced to 12-16 1/2 years in prison for his role in the 2022 shooting of a woman in Xenia Township.

Morgan pled guilty in March 2023 to one county of Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Murder with an attached three-year firearm specification and one count of Aggravated Robbery.

This sentencing stemmed from an attempted murder incident on Sept. 12, 2022. Greene County Sheriff’s deputies and Xenia police officers were sent to the area of Ford Road and Hilltop Road in Xenia Township, where they found a female victim with a gunshot wound to her neck.

The woman was taken to the hospital for her non-life-threatening injuries, and also told police that her vehicle was stolen following the assault.

She identified one of the men involved as Ladashiaun Brown, who was later found in Seneca County with the stolen vehicle. Brown was sentenced to 20-25 years in prison on Nov. 17, 2022.

A second suspect was identified as Aaron Davis, who was determined to be the shooter. He was sentenced to 32-37 1/2 years in prison on June 28, 2024.

Through investigation, Morgan was found to be the third suspect in the shooting incident. When questioned, the Prosecutor’s Office says Morgan admitted to his role in the conspiracy, including his assignment as “back-up shooter.”

“Jahmel Morgan’s sentence is the end of this case for Greene County, but the victim of this crime will live with the consequences for the rest of her life,” said Greene County Prosecutor David Hayes. “We are grateful that she survived this senseless attack and hope that these lengthy prison sentences provide some measure of justice for her.”
