Yadkin County budget approved with slight performance increase
On June 26 the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners passed its 2025 fiscal year budget with an amended increase to three percent for performance-based raises for county employees. The proposed budget initially included a two percent performance-based increase option for county staff, as well as a three and half percent cost of living adjustment increase. Surry-Yadkin Works student completes Teacher Aide Apprenticeship
Demi Moore was recognized by the Yadkin County School Board of Education for her successful completion of a Teacher Aide Apprenticeship through Surry-Yadkin Works on June 3. At the monthly meeting of the school board, Moore was presented with a Certificate of Apprenticeship Completion from the N.C. Community College System. Sheriff's Office requests pay increase in 2025 budget
A second public hearing regarding the Yadkin County 2025 fiscal year budget was held Monday. At the June 13 public hearing 19 people spoke in favor of a significant pay increase for employees requested by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office. An additional nine people spoke during Monday’s public hearing. The Starmount Rams and Forbush Falcons are set to start the coming school year with brand-new turf football fields and collegiate-grade tracks. Yadkin County Retired School Personnel announce scholarship winners
The Yadkin County Retired School Personnel gives the Fred C. Hobson Scholarship each year to a senior planning to major in Education at Forbush High School and Starmount High School. The amount of the scholarship this year is $1,000. The scholarship is named after a former longtime superintendent who served as the Yadkin County Schools superintendent from 1939 to 1971.
