Advisory Board appointed to Yadkin County Education Foundation

Twelve Advisory Board members have been appointed by the Shallow Ford Foundation (SFF) Board of Directors and the Yadkin County School Board to the Yadkin County Education Foundation Fund of the SFF. Advisory Board members help shape and guide the Creative Classroom Grant guidelines, review applications, and recommend awards. The Advisory Board also informs and guides other grant opportunities of the Fund and assists in growing the fund.

Members appointed to the term January 2024-June 30, 2025: Jon Bowman, Peace Haven Baptist Church; Jimmy Flythe, Duke Energy; Chris Funk, Edward Jones; Marty Roberts, Rid-A-Bug Exterminating Co., Inc.; H. Smith Williams, UNIFI; Sharon Yale, Astrazeneca and YCS Board of Education. Members appointed to the term January 2024 — June 30, 2026: Emmy M. Corn, First National Bank and SFF Board of Directors; Chandra Davis, Marvin’s Garage Doors; Jennifer Johnson, Three Magnolias Financial Advisors and SFF Board of Directors; Robert Reavis, Oppenheimer & Company and YCS Board of Education; Jennifer Zigler Smitherman, Live Like Norah, Inc., and Glenda Shore Wingler, CW Electric Co., Inc.

The Yadkin County Education Foundation fund was launched last month with a goal of building a permanent source of supplemental funding to support classroom instruction, career education for at-risk youth, and resources for periodic student needs that may arise from exceptional academic achievement. The first Creative Classroom grants applications for teachers are now open with a deadline in April for projects in the 2024-2025 school year.
