On Saturday, May 18 from 1 to 4 p.m., the first Open House of the season is planned at the Historic Richmond Hill Law School in Yadkin County.

“We’re excited about your interest in the Historic Richmond Hill Law School and hope that you will consider joining us for a special afternoon,” said Richmond Hill Commission Member Greg Cheek.

Local story teller and musician Stan Clardy will present “Circa Civil war Songs & Stories” at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

“This is also a great opportunity to enjoy guided tours of the Richmond Pearson Home, surrounding grounds, and nature park,” said Cheek. “The home is in a remote but beautiful section of Yadkin County, which one of Chief Justice Pearson’s students called the ‘the last place in the universe.’ There are several trails to explore, and you can still walk the same ground as Pearson’s students must have done years ago when attending spring and fall sessions of Pearson’s law school from 1846 to 1878.

The event will also include music, light refreshments, and tours from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., compliments of the Historic Richmond Hill Law School Commission.

Richmond Hill is located at 4641 Law School Road, East Bend. Law School Road dead ends at the gate to the Richmond Pearson House. Please park at either of the two picnic shelters, and walk through the gate to the house.
