    Heroin and meth confiscated, drug charges filed

    Two individuals are facing multiple drug charges after deputies observed a “suspicious” vehicle at the Hamptonville Gas and Grocery on March 15. Detectives with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team were patrolling the area and noticed the driver of a vehicle litter in the parking lot of the business. The vehicle proceeded to leave the business and the driver and passenger were recognized from prior narcotics investigations by the ACE Team.

    A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle as it pulled onto Key Street at US Highway 21. The driver was identified as Joseph Ryan Worsham, age 38 of Pfafftown. The front seat passenger was identified as Kristian Nicole McDaniel, age 36 of Yadkinville.

    During the traffic stop probable cause was obtained by detectives to search the vehicle and the two occupants. The detectives located 50 grams of methamphetamine in multiple baggies; 10 grams of heroin/fentanyl in multiple baggies; 8.5 dosage units of hydrocodone pills; 26 dosage units of suboxone/buprenorphine; 2 grams of marijuana; drug paraphernalia; and $2,471 in U.S. currency.

    Detectives also located a loaded Charter Arms .38 Special revolver lying on the back seat of the vehicle with additional ammunition and a holster. After these items were located both Worsham and McDaniel were placed under arrest.

    Worsham was arrested and charged with the following:

    • 2 felony counts of Trafficking Sch. I Controlled Substance (Heroin/Fentanyl)

    • 2 felony counts of Trafficking Sch. II Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)

    • 2 felony counts of Conspiracy to Traffic Controlled Substances

    • 3 felony counts of Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell and Deliver Sch. II Controlled Substances (Methamphetamine, Hydrocodone, & Heroin/Fentanyl)

    • 1 felony count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell and Deliver Sch. III Controlled Substance (Suboxone/Buprenorphine)

    • 1 felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

    • 1 misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    • 1 misdemeanor count of Driving While License Revoked

    Worsham received a $500,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in court in Yadkin County on March 20. At the time of this incident Worsham was out of prison on Post-Release for controlled substance violations which occurred previously in Yadkin County.

    McDaniel was arrested and charged with the following:

    • 4 felony counts of Conspiracy to Traffic Controlled Substances (Heroin/Fentanyl & Methamphetamine)

    • 1 felony count of Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale/Use of Controlled Substances

    • 1 felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

    • 1 misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    McDaniel received a $250,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in court in Yadkin County on March 20. At the time of this incident McDaniel was out on multiple bonds in Yadkin County for prior controlled substance violations.
