Hustlers is an absolute gem of a film. It's essentially an independent film (starring women of all colors, made by women - director/writer, producers, craftspeople - about strippers nonetheless) that has sleek studio sheer in spades!
It's fun and engaging but it's also the best depiction of female friendship and camaraderie this year. Wu and Lopez are tremendous, their chemistry is the beating heart of the film. Again, this is the type of movie that only a female filmmaker can compellingly bring to cinemas.
A love letter to female friendship and a scathing critique of an economic system that objectifies and undermines women, Hustlers" is an unlikely hybrid of subversive-revenge crime saga and pop-feminist "chick-flick." It's an uproarious independent film AND a thoughtful, critical, heartfelt studio picture.

I think it was generally well written it's just that some parts of it were slow and redundant for too long.

I'm halfway through this film and I've looked at my phone quite a lot of times now, lost interest too many times to count, rolled my eyes one too many times. I can't say I'm surprised, when is in it (notorious box office poison, do movies not know better. you're guaranteed an hour or two of poor acting and an overall mediocre film. I gave this one a chance because it had a promising story but this story got the film treatment by the wrong people. No justice done at all. It's a "look at me I'm living my stripper fantasy, forget the story" film. Cardi B and Lizzo are only in it for like 2 scenes, they only got these girls so more people would come watch the film. I love both of them, but they don't save this film, at all. If you're a huge fan, you'll be over the moon with this film I suppose. If you're after soft core porn, this film is for you. If you're not the brightest tool in the shed, this film is for you. Other than that, skip it. Waste of time, maybe use it as background noise to sleep.
