MABTON, Wash. - The Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has declined to file charges against a Mabton city employee who is accused of stealing thousands of dollars of city money.

Mabton man accused of stealing city funds from employee
A Mabton man is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in city funds from a city employee who was headed to the bank to deposit it. A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the theft on June 17 and booked into Yakima County jail on suspicion of first-degree theft. During a preliminary appearance hearing Thursday, Yakima County Superior Court Judge Sonia Rodriguez True ordered him to be released on court supervision pending trial.
Second fire burns 47 acres near Slide Ranch Fire in White Swan area
WHITE SWAN, Wash. - A second fire burned in the White Swan area on Wednesday, according to Yakima Valley Emergency Management. In an update from Fire Information Officer Tim McKern, a spot fire was found over the containment lines of the Slide Ranch Fire at 2:30 p.m. during a wind and dust storm.
