Skies should be clear, other than a few passing clouds in the Cascades. Skies could also be a bit hazy in the Yakima Valley due to smoke from the Slide Ranch fire. Winds will be light for most areas, although northwesterly gusts could reach 20 MPH by this afternoon in the Kittitas Valley.

A Toppenish man is charged with assaulting a Washington State Patrol trooper by ramming the trooper’s patrol vehicle during a high-speed chase near Moxee. Yakima County prosecutors filed third-degree assault, eluding, felony driving under the influence, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, hit-and-run and resisting arrest against Shane Michael Curtiss, 25, in connection with the June 14 incident.
Slide Ranch Fire near White Swan chars over 3,000 acres, 16 structures lost
---*Update*--- Yakima County Fire District #5 confirmed to Action News that the fire has been turned over to the Bureau of Indian Affairs as of 6 a.m. Friday morning. We received a press release from the Yakama Nation Emergency Management which they confirmed the fire flared again Wednesday which caused another evacuation.

WHITE SWAN, Wash. - A second fire burned in the White Swan area on Wednesday, according to Yakima Valley Emergency Management. In an update from Fire Information Officer Tim McKern, a spot fire was found over the containment lines of the Slide Ranch Fire at 2:30 p.m. during a wind and dust storm.
