State Prepares for Big Blaze: WA Officials Mobilize Resources Across Region
If there's a big fire anytime soon in the region the state is ready. State officials are gathering resources and placing them in strategic areas in case of a big blaze. Officials from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources say they've sent equipment and firefighters to Kittitas, Yakima, and Klickitat Counties. The three counties in the state that state officials say are primed for a wildfire after multiple days of hot, dry, and windy conditions and are presently under National Weather Service Red Flag Warnings.
State Patrol looking for witnesses to rollover near Union Gap that hospitalized 6
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-The Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a rollover crash on I-82 near Union Gap on July 6 that injured six people. The WSP is asking anyone who saw or stopped for the crash near milepost 39 south of Union Gap around 8:30 p.m. to come forward during the investigation.

Yakima County To Hire Care Coordinator to Address Homelessness
Yakima County is in the process of hiring a Care Coordinator to help homeless people and help save tax dollars. THE 2023 POINT IN TIME SURVEY REVEALED AN INTERESTING PROBLEM. Following the annual Point in Time survey in which homeless are counted in the valley, Yakima County Commissioner Kyle Curtis says the survey found there were 1,768 visits to the Yakima Multicare Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in 2023 by clients listed as “unhoused."
