Hi-Chew candy maker Morinaga building second Mebane factory
Japanese confectioner Morinaga & Co. Ltd. plans to build a second factory in Orange County to boost production of its popular Hi-Chew candies. In a notice to investors, the company said it would invest $136 million in to build a 133,000-square-foot expansion at its site in Mebane. The company plans to begin construction in October and begin production at the plant in early 2027.
NC Judge Overseeing ACC Cases To Retire
The North Carolina judge who has been overseeing the ACC court cases has announced his retirement, effective January 2025. Judge Louis Bledsoe III has been the judge in the ACC lawsuits against conference members Florida State and Clemson. The ACC is suing both schools for breach of contract. Both schools have filed lawsuits in their home states to try to get out of their contracts with the conference.
