    Nebraska State Patrol looking for Yankton man who allegedly fled police

    HARTINGTON, Neb. (KCAU) — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is asking for the public’s help in finding a Yankton man who allegedly fled police in South Dakota and Nebraska Wednesday evening.

    According to a release, around 4:15 p.m. NSP was informed that the South Dakota Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a motorcycle traveling southbound toward Nebraska. The rider, identified as Jason Sitzman, 47, was believed to be the subject of an arrest warrant.

    The South Dakota trooper cancelled the pursuit at the Nebraska border. Hours later, NSP learned that the suspect may be at the Chalkrock Wildlife Management Area in northern Cedar County.

    Troopers, along with the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska Game and Parks, and Cedar County Emergency Management, responded to the area. A search of the area was conducted, using drones and a helicopter. Troopers found the motorcycle but did not locate the subject.

    According to Cedar County NE Emergency Management , as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, he was last seen on foot at the Chalkrock Wildlife Management Area in north Cedar County.

    Nebraska State Patrol says there is no threat to the public and asks anyone with information on Sitzman’s location to call 402-370-3456.
