Volunteers get to work at Graceland Cemetery
In Emily Dickinson's "I died for Beauty," she ruminates on the universality of death, ending on the affecting final line, "we talked between the rooms, / until the moss had reached our lips, / and covered up our names." At Madison's Graceland Cemetery, volunteers gathered to clear the moss — or more accurately, lichen — from headstones throughout the site, revealing the names and histories trapped beneath.
5 hours on a sports bus trip in South Dakota
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Residents of Pierre or Aberdeen may be used to traveling a few hundred miles in a day. That includes their high school sports teams. The Aberdeen Central High School football team will travel at least 1,400 miles this fall. The volleyball team will travel at least 3,000 miles. The football and volleyball teams at T. F. Riggs High School in Pierre will travel at least 4,000 total miles.
Great Shots golf bays closing for turf upgrades
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Starting on Sunday, Great Shots in Sioux Falls will be closing its golf bays and tee lines in order to make upgrades to their driving range turf. Great Shots made the announcement on their Facebook page and noted that while the bays and tee lines will be closed, their indoor simulator will still be available by reservation, as will their event spaces, golf academy and bar.

Myah Selland had an impressive showing in both Spain and Australia, posting averages of 15.5 points and earning team MVP honors with the Gold Coast Rollers. Ena Viso emerged as a key player in Iceland, contributing significantly to her team's success in the League Finals with averages of 11.9 points and 6.7 rebounds. These players continue to elevate the program's profile on the international stage.
#12 Volleyball Ends Exhibition Season With Win Over Colorado State
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The No. 12 Creighton Volleyball team closed out its exhibition season with a 3-2 victory at Colorado State on Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena. The Bluejays won by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-15, 26-28, 10-15. Even though Creighton won the first three sets, the teams had determined prior to the match that they'd play five sets to allow for maximum preparation for the start of the regular-season. Both coaches tinkered with their lineups throughout in an attempt to find winning combinations, as well as giving experience to the talented newcomers joining each program.
