    Stefon Diggs.

Earlier this offseason, the Houston Texans made a splash when they acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. However, could the move backfire?

"I question [Diggs'] fit in Houston," an NFL personnel evaluator told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "They've already got plenty in the passing game with Nico Collins and Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz. And you wonder how his personality fits with a young nucleus."

It's easy to see why Diggs could be considered high-maintenance. The Athletic noted one reason the Bills traded him was they were tired of him seemingly taking shots at quarterback Josh Allen on social media. He also forced his way out of Minnesota when he grew unhappy with his role in the Vikings offense.

On top of possibly being difficult to work with, his second-half slump in 2023 could signal he's declining. Through his last eight games, the 30-year-old wideout logged one touchdown catch and failed to surpass 100 receiving yards.

"I saw a little decline," an AFC executive said of Diggs, via Fowler. "I think his vertical speed has tapered off a bit."

Despite the statistical dip, four-time Pro Bowler Diggs ranked No. 9 in Fowler's top-10 WRs poll, where he surveyed coaches, executives and scouts.

The drop-off could be tied to dysfunction in Buffalo. Last season, the Bills fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey following a Week 10 loss to the Denver Broncos, replacing him with Joe Brady.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans indicated he's not worried about Diggs' dip and thinks he'll make their passing attack even more dangerous.

"We want to put defenses in binds," Ryans recently told ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime. "And I think with [Collins, Diggs and Dell] it allows us to do that because they are so different, and they can all do different things."

Combined with quarterback C.J. Stroud, Houston's receiving corps should propel it into the league's elite. As of Wednesday, FanDuel places the Texans (+1600) within its top-10 Super Bowl LIX odds.

Even if Diggs flops this upcoming season, the Texans can quickly move on from him. Houston already revised his contract , making him a free agent in 2025.
