Ravens WR Zay Flowers reveals targeted area of improvement in 2024

Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers had an impressive 2023 rookie campaign in which he recorded a team-leading 77 catches for 858 yards.

The former No. 22 overall pick is now focused on taking his game to another level in his second year and he believes he knows what it will take to do just that.

"Probably deep passes; probably more deep passes. I feel like I can go get them," Flowers said , via the team's website. "If they're in the air, I'll go get them. That's one of the things I want to improve, to answer your question. I'll say that's one of the things — just hitting more deep balls. Because that's what I did in college, so I want to come out and try to hit more this year."

Flowers was an electric deep threat during his four years at Boston College. From 2019-22, he registered 200 receptions for 3,056 yards and 29 touchdowns, averaging 15.28 yards per catch.

The 23-year-old averaged just 11.1 yards per catch last season, which is exactly why he knows he can improve his numbers.

How does he plan on doing so?

"[It's] probably just running more of them and working on them with 'L.J.' [Lamar Jackson], and working on them with the group, honestly, because I don't think we had a lot last year, so we want to come out and improve," Flowers added.

Baltimore was in the middle of the pack with 52 plays of 20-plus yards and nine plays of 40-plus yards in 2023.

If the team hopes to prevent that from happening again, it could rely heavily on Flowers. Luckily for the Ravens, he sounds ready for the challenge.

"[I want to] take the whole game to the next level, everything from blocking to catching," Flowers finished. "I'm trying to get better at everything, and I'm trying to improve every year and prove all the doubters wrong."
