Steph Curry explodes early against Serbia

Team USA was waiting for a big Steph Curry game. That arrived in the first quarter of the U.S.'s semifinal game against Serbia.

Curry scored 17 of his team’s 23 points in the first quarter, personally keeping them in the game against a hot-shooting Serbian team. He went 5-of-7 from three-point range and 6-of-8 from the field as the rest of his team went 1-of-4 from deep and 1-of-8 overall.

Meanwhile, Serbia shot 64.7 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from deep in the first quarter. Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic was regularly finding shooters, racking up five first-quarter assists as Serbia took a 31-23 lead against the heavily favored Americans.

Perhaps Curry was inspired to shatter his Olympic career high in the first four minutes thanks to the support of a fan.

Facing a Serbian team that looks extremely comfortable playing Team USA and its 11 All-Stars, it may need even more “Curry flurries” from its starting shooting guard.
