    Jordan Chiles.

The Paris Olympics are officially complete. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

The International Olympic Committee announced Sunday that American gymnast Jordan Chiles must return her bronze medal after it was deemed her coach's score appeal was filed four seconds too late. Romania's Ana Barbosu is now the official third-place finisher with Chiles in fifth. Chiles is the first athlete to be stripped of an Olympic medal due to a judging error. All other cases were for doping or rule-breaking.

Team USA men's water polo needed a flawless shootout performance to defeat Hungary 11-8 for the bronze medal on Sunday. Serbia defeated Croatia 13-11 for the gold.

Denmark men's handball won its third consecutive Olympic gold on Sunday, defeating Germany 39-26. Mathias Gidsel led the team with 11 goals. Spain won the bronze-medal match 23-22 over Slovenia.

Now that the competition is done, fans can look forward to the party that is the closing ceremony . Organizers have teased a California-based, star-studded performance as Paris hands the baton to Los Angeles. There might even be a Tom Cruise cameo in the mix.

    Medal count

Three big things about Team USA

    1. Women's basketball wins eighth straight gold

It was the tightest game the U.S. women had to play the entire time they were in Paris, but ultimately A'ja Wilson and Co. got the job done, defeating France 67-66. Team USA has now won eight straight golds and has not lost an Olympic game in 61 tries. Only South Korea has a longer Olympic team streak with 10 straight golds in archery .

    2. Women's volleyball wins fifth straight Olympic medal

While it wasn't the color they wanted, the women of Team USA still kept their Olympic medal streak alive after falling to Italy in straight sets and earning silver on Sunday. The Americans haven't finished off the podium since the 2004 Games in Athens.

    3. U.S. cyclist takes gold in women's omnium

Jennifer Valente successfully defended her Tokyo gold medal on Sunday. The four-discipline event saw Valente finish 15 points ahead of her nearest competitor after they failed to score anything in Sunday's point race.

    You won't believe this

The Netherlands' Sifan Hassan won the women's marathon Sunday, marking the end of an incredible Paris Games for her. Hassan also earned bronze in both the women's 10km and 5km races on the track earlier this week. She was the first athlete to attempt the Olympic treble in 40 years and only the second to medal in all three events. Czechia's Emil Zatopek won triple golds at the 1952 Helsinki Games.
