Three AEW stars rumored to hold interest in WWE switch

    Ricky Starks.

AEW is at risk of becoming a feeder system for WWE. Tony Khan's company has lost some big names to the wrestling juggernaut over the past 18 months, with Cody Rhodes becoming one of the most popular wrestlers on the planet after making the switch. Jade Cargill, Shawn Spears and Ethan Page are also strutting their stuff on WWE programming.

Here are three wrestlers currently linked with a potential move to WWE.

    1. Ricky Starks

Starks' entire gimmick feels like it's designed for WWE. He thrives with a microphone in his hand and works well as both a face and a heel. He has high-level in-ring skills and can work as part of a tag team or as a solo act. And he knows how to get the crowd involved in his storylines.

AEW's heavy focus on in-ring work and limited commitment to long-term storytelling has left Starks hovering in mid-card territory.

AEW hasn't featured Starks on television since a March 30 match against Top Flight on "Collision." He is now expected to head to WWE at the end of his current contract. His close friendship with Rhodes may be a significant factor in his decision. Nevertheless, it does feel like he will be better suited to WWE's production style.

    2. Daniel Garcia

Garcia has long been pushed as a future star for AEW. He is technically gifted, young and has a high upside as a babyface character.

However, Khan's booking hasn't given Garcia the reps he needs to improve on the microphone, and promo segments are a serious weakness. He is currently written off AEW programming following a vicious attack by MJF on a recent episode of "Dynamite."

WWE is a reported destination for Garcia if he opts not to return to AEW. Should he make the jump, a spot on "NXT" is the most likely landing spot. Working with Shawn Michaels and the rest of the NXT roster would give Garcia ample time and reps to improve the entertainment side of his skill set before pushing for a role on one of the major brands.

    3. The Lucha Brothers

A staple of AEW's tag-team division, the Lucha Brothers have done pretty much everything there is to do in the young company. They've won the tag-team titles and the trio titles. They've been involved in major pay-per-views. And they've had their fair share of storylines. However, as with many stars on AEW, the booking has left them feeling a little stale over the last 12 months.

With both Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix entering the final stages of their contracts, a move to WWE is expected to be a formality. The duo have reportedly told WWE they don't wish to join NXT and would like to be kept as a package deal. Given WWE's limited tag-team talent pool, a move could take the Lucha Brothers to new heights and appears to be an inevitability.
