New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered an injury during Sunday's practice, but the club doesn't seem too concerned about it.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported Nabers didn't return to practice after taking off his left shoe and limping off the field.
Leonard added the Giants' initial belief is Nabers has a minor ankle sprain. He will have to undergo further tests to better determine the severity, though, and may miss New York's second preseason game against the Texans on Saturday.

Still, the injury probably won't sideline him at the beginning of the regular season, which is good for New York.

The Giants took Nabers, a 2023 first-team All-American, with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft and hope the LSU product adds a much-needed spark to their passing attack. Last season, New York finished second to last in the league in passing yards (169.8) and 28th in passing TDs (15).

Aside from drafting Nabers, the Giants did little to improve their receiving corps this offseason. They signed one-time Pro Bowl WR Allen Robinson II to a one-year deal in May, but he's probably past his prime. In 17 games with the Steelers last season, he logged 34 receptions for 280 yards and zero touchdown catches.

Nabers, 21, had no targets in his preseason debut against the Lions, but he has flashed promise in training camp. SNY-TV in New York recently posted a video of him making a sensational catch in a joint practice with Detroit.
