    Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.

Despite earlier reports that Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior had rejected an approach from Saudi Arabian representatives attempting to lure the Spanish giant to one of their professional teams, the 2024 Ballon d'Or candidate may still be interested.

Reuters reported Monday that the 24-year-old, currently inked to a lucrative contract with Madrid through 2027, is considering a new offer from the Saudis - citing sources close to the player.

The offer reportedly includes a salary of 200 million euros per season (roughly $220 million) plus bonuses and a separate 10-year contract to become an ambassador for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which is set to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.

Any formal offer would have to meet the $1.1 billion release clause required by Madrid in order to acquire their star striker.

While it's unclear whether Madrid will actually entertain a formal offer, Vinicius' representatives have given the Saudis permission to approach the club, per Reuters.

Regardless, this whole episode is yet another high-profile bid by the Saudi Pro League to gain relevance on a soccer stage mostly dominated by Europe.

Vinicius' former Madrid teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema left for Saudi clubs Al Nassr and Al Ittihad respectively, as did the Brazilian's countryman, Neymar, for Al Hilal in recent years.

The latter being the same club trying to court Vinicius, Al Hilal also attempted to gain the signature of French star Kylian Mbappe but he ultimately rejected the offer and joined Real Madrid in June.
