    Team Brazil player Bruno Caboclo.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have enjoyed a strong summer. They re-signed Donovan Mitchell to a multiyear deal, ending speculation regarding his future. They hired Kenny Atkinson to bring a more offensive approach and secured extensions for Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. With no incomings or outgoings so far, it's clear Cleveland is banking on internal developments to take them to the next level.

According to the "Wine and Gold Talk" podcast on Cleveland.com, the front office has shown interest in Brazilian standout Bruno Caboclo.

"I have a source telling me that the Cavs were taking a look, not they were going to sign him, that they were taking a look at Bruno Caboclo while he was playing for the Brazil national team," Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor said. "That's the level of scouting that they do."

Caboclo would certainly have impressed the watching scouts. He ended the tournament with averages of 17.3 points and seven rebounds while shooting 59% from the field and 55% from three-point range. Whether his performances were enough to convince the Cavaliers to put together a contract offer remains to be seen, but he certainly didn't do his chances any harm during Brazil's tenure in Paris.

Furthermore, the Cavaliers could rest assured that Caboclo would slide right into their rotation. He has spent seven years in the NBA, suiting up for the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets.

Nevertheless, Caboclo must weigh his options. He is unlikely to get consistent playing time with a team like Cleveland, which is focusing on making a deep run in the postseason. Instead, he would be a depth piece toward the end of the bench. He may be better served to find a bigger role somewhere in Europe and make a similar level of money per season.

Fedor's report should appease Cavaliers fans, though. It's clear the front office is looking for ways to improve the team on the fringes, which means having to think outside the box. Still, a move to Ohio wouldn't be smart business for Caboclo, even if he would fit the Cavaliers' remit.
