Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles has broken her silence following the Aug. 10 announcement she would be stripped of her Olympic bronze medal .

Chiles posted a statement on X, writing that she is "overwhelmed by the love I have received" but feels the "decision is unjust."

On Aug. 5, Chiles competed in the floor routine apparatus and originally finished in fifth place. After an appeal by her coach, her score was corrected and she was bumped up to third place — claiming bronze over Romanian Ana Barbosu.

The Romanian delegation appealed that decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where it determined Chiles' request for a score change was filed four seconds too late and, therefore, invalid.

USA Gymnastics' subsequent appeal of that decision was rejected by the Court , which ruled that its procedures do not allow for such a motion despite new evidence arising.

Chiles' statement, however, appeared to leave the door open for pursuing the issue further, with the 23-year-old gymnast declaring that she would "make every effort to make sure justice is done."

She went on to write, "I believe that at the end of this journey, the people in control will do the right thing."

Chiles did not address how or if she would be returning her bronze medal to the International Olympic Committee as the Court's decision stipulated.
