Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Weston Wilson (37) is doused in celebration of hitting for the cycle in a victory against the Washington Nationals.

The Philadelphia Phillies have struggled to find consistency in the second half of the season, but may have had a breakout game on Thursday night in a 13-3 win over the Washington Nationals.

The star of that performance was Weston Wilson, who became the fourth player in Major League Baseball this season to hit for the cycle.

Wilson completed the cycle in the bottom of the eighth inning with a double. As he was batting, fans at Citizens Bank Park were chanting, "Double! Double!" until he finally got the hit.

Wilson homered in the seventh inning, tripled in the fourth and singled later that inning as the Phillies hit around.

Wilson is the ninth Phillie to ever hit for the cycle and the second to do so over the past two years. Catcher J.T. Realmuto hit for the cycle during the 2023 season.

Wilson joins Wyatt Langford (Texas Rangers), Yordan Alvarez (Houston Astros) and Xavier Edwards (Miami Marlins) as the other players to hit for the cycle this season.

The 29-year-old Wilson has only appeared in 23 major league games over the past two years, but has represented himself quite well in his limited opportunities. Entering play on Thursday, he was hitting .286 with an .858 OPS. Those numbers are definitely increasing after Thursday's performance.
