New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson.

Perhaps this week's trade of star pass rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons hasn't completely set in for New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson yet.

Stevenson may still be thinking about the organization saying goodbye to legendary head coach Bill Belichick over the winter.

Whatever the case, the Patriots' biggest offensive star had a hilarious mix-up when he was being interviewed on the sideline by WBZ TV's Steve Burton during the third quarter of the team's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.

"I gotta ask you about the guy who just left. How much are they gonna miss him, and who's gonna step up in his place?" Burton asked.

"Yeah, I miss Bill. That was one of my favorite coaches, but, you know, [Jerod] Mayo, he's a great leader. He knows what he's doing with us and yeah, I'm excited for Mayo. I think we can get it done with him," Stevenson responded.

The veteran Boston-area sports journalist informed the former fourth-round pick that he was referring to Judon's departure.

"I wasn't talking about Mayo. I was talking about your defensive teammate," Burton said.

    "Oh, Judon," Stevenson replied.

"Yeah, Judon," the reporter said. "He's moving onto better places, at least a different place."

"Excited for him. I know he still has a couple of more years in him so I'm excited for him," Stevenson said.

After months of negotiations regarding a possible contract extension went nowhere, the Patriots traded their four-time Pro Bowler to the Falcons in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.

Belichick and the team, meanwhile, mutually agreed to part ways in January.
