AEW is Tony Khan's labor of love. He is a diehard wrestling fan and at its core, AEW is his way to live out his dream of owning a top-tier wrestling promotion. Sometimes, that passion can lead to decisions the fanbase doesn't agree with. Khan has regularly been accused of booking matches he wants to see rather than those that could help further a storyline or reach a broader fanbase.

Nevertheless, Khan can never be accused of ignoring AEW, its fans or its potential for growth . He consistently praises the work his staff does, champions his brand and explores ways to take the promotion to another level.

It's been common knowledge that Khan has been discussing a new television deal with Warner Brother's Discovery. During an interview with Scott Fishman of TVInsider on Tuesday, Khan set AEW's fans' pulses racing when he teased some "important announcements" that he claims are imminent.

"This is the most important and exciting time in AEW’s history," Khan said. "In addition to what is happening in the ring, there are so many exciting things happening behind the scenes at AEW right now. We’re on the verge of the most important announcements in the history of AEW. There are multiple aspects. The arrival of these announcements is imminent. We’ll have big news that could come at any time...I have been working on this for a long time. We have a great team here. The future of AEW is very bright."

While the announcement of a new rights deal is expected, Khan's wording has left a lot open for interpretation. He used a plural when discussing "announcements," which has left fans wondering what other updates he could provide. Fans have been asking for a potential brand split between Dynamite, Rampage and Collision in recent months, but there's no guarantee it will be part of Khan's current roadmap.

It's unclear whether those announcements will come before All-In at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 25, but Khan's decision to tease them now is a masterstroke. His comments will ensure fans are tuning into AEW programming in the coming weeks as they wait to hear what news he has in store for them and how it will affect the future of the company.

Khan is a wrestling fan, so he knows how wrestling fans think; his latest comments are just further proof of that.
