    Ana Barbosu.

Romanian Olympic gymnast Ana Barbosu received her bronze medal Friday after it was controversially stripped from American gymnast Jordan Chiles last week.

Barbosu was honored at a public medal ceremony in Bucharest, posing for photos with her newly acquired medal at her home country's Olympic House.

The Romanian originally finished third at the end of the floor routine apparatus, but after a successful score appeal from Chiles' camp, she was bumped down to fifth and the bronze medal was awarded to the American.

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled Chiles' appeal was filed four seconds too late, reversing the decision and prompting the International Olympic Committee to re-award the medal according to the original results.

Barbosu made a statement in support of her teammate, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, and Chiles at the medal ceremony Friday, saying "I hope everyone understands that we have done nothing wrong."

She also wished "that the day will come when all three of us will receive a bronze medal each," emphasizing that "the Olympic spirit is more important than any misunderstanding between the authorities."

The medal ceremony for Barbosu and her words come less than 24 hours after Chiles broke her own silence on the controversy .

USA Gymnastics said Aug. 12 that it will continue fighting for Chiles and plans to appeal the medal stripping decision to the Swiss Federal Tribunal after it was denied an initial appeal by the CAS despite having new evidence.
