    Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier.

Justin Allgaier had just enough fuel and just enough speed under the hood to win Saturday's Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan.

With much of the field pitting on lap 62 of the 125-lap race, Allgaier pitted on lap 69, giving him seven more laps of fuel to work with. As many of his competitors saved fuel, Allgaier was able to drive his car harder than the rest of the field, eventually passing John Hunter Nemechek for second place.

With race leader Carson Kvapil having to pit with 17 laps to go, Allgaier took the race lead, and though a caution would come out and force an overtime restart after a red flag for rain, Allgaier held off a hard-charging Sheldon Creed for his second win of the 2024 season.

The win is Allgaier's first at Michigan and the 25th of his Xfinity Series career. The victory now moves him to 10th on the all-time Xfinity Series wins list.

Creed finished second — his 11th runner-up finish in the series — with Nemechek, Anthony Alfredo and Noah Gragson rounding out the top five.

Sammy Smith, Taylor Gray, Matt DiBenedetto, Caesar Bacarella and Parker Kligerman completed the top 10.

Other notable finishers in Saturday's race include AJ Allmendinger in 11th, Ryan Sieg in 13th, Shane van Gisbergen in 17th, Chandler Smith in 27th and Riley Herbst in 38th.

The Xfinity Series' next race is scheduled for Friday night at Daytona. The WaWa 250 will go green shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 23, with coverage on USA Network, MRN, the NBC Sports App and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
