    Kyle Sieg.

Sometimes, the intensity of NASCAR results in late-race crashes. On Saturday, Carson Kvapil and Kyle Sieg were victims of a final-lap incident, though Sieg decidedly got the worse end of the deal.

After an overtime restart, the NASCAR Xfinity Series field was bunched up on the final lap of Saturday's Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan. As Kvapil, Sieg and the rest of the field raced down the backstretch for the final time, Kvapil was turned into the outside wall, with other cars scattering to the inside of the track.

Sieg's No. 28 Ford Mustang got turned sideways, and with air getting underneath the car, the vehicle turned upside down in mid-air, carrying its occupant upside down at speed for several hundred yards.

Sieg's car was finally turned back onto its wheels after it slid into the infield grass in turn three. Sieg was credited with a 28th-place finish in Saturday's race and sits 24th in points after Saturday's race. Sieg has run 19 of the Xfinity Series' 21 events so far in 2024.

Sieg was unharmed in the incident and got out of his destroyed car under his own power.

The Xfinity Series' next race could also be a setting for a flip as the famed Daytona International Speedway has seen many violent incidents since its first season on the NASCAR schedule in 1959.

The WaWa 250 at Daytona will go green shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 23 with coverage on USA Network, MRN, the NBC Sports App and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
