Jerry Jones offers head-scratching update on CeeDee Lamb contract talks

While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Jones was asked if he's optimistic about completing a deal with Lamb, who has been a holdout throughout training camp thus far. The short version of his answer? "I think I am," as The Athletic's Jon Machota revealed.

“I think I am. And when I say that, it doesn’t sound too promising," Jones said. "The facts are that I believe we’ll come together. I don’t want to speak for him. That’s what I’m trying not to do. But we wouldn’t have offered him what we’ve offered him if we didn’t want him to be here.”

As ESPN's Todd Archer reported, Jones also said the Cowboys are "in good shape there" and that the two sides are having "promising talks."
