Noah Lyles responds to Tyreek Hill's request to race

The prospective race between Olympian Noah Lyles and Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill continues to garner headlines, and the makings of an ostentatious sporting event could very well come to fruition.

One of the few sticking points? The form of measurement used to determine the race.

At least, that was the discussion when Dan Patrick invited Lyles onto his show this week and asked about Hill's request for the race to be 50 yards.

"There might be leeway for adjustments, but if you think we are running anything that has 'yards' in it, you're sorely mistaken," the 100-meter gold medalist told Patrick. "But we can definitely have conversations."

Lyles also wasn't a fan of Patrick suggesting the competitors wear football pads if they race.

"Sounds a little too gimmicky for me," he said with a laugh.

These were just Lyles' most recent comments about the beef with Hill, which has been escalating into a smack talk extravaganza for the last couple of weeks. Hill initially challenged Lyles to a race after he took issue with the sprinter's comments that winners of American pro sports championships shouldn't be considered "world champions."

Lyles' comments were directly leveed toward the NBA Finals and drew the ire of many of basketball's finest, including Team USA gold medalist Kevin Durant. It was NFLer Hill, however, who kept the trash talk going with comments earlier this month that he would win a race between the two.

This isn't the first time Hill has gone toe-to-toe with an Olympic runner. He challenged Usain Bolt to a race while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, although that challenge resulted in a more theatrical speed test instead of a war of words.
