Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jonathan Cannon (48) pitches during the first inning against the Detroit Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Chicago White Sox lost again on Sunday, dropping a 9-4 decision to the Detroit Tigers. It is already the 100th time this season that the White Sox have been on the losing end of a game, dropping their record to an almost impossibly bad 31-100.

They are not only the worst team in baseball by a substantial margin, but they also joined a rather infamous club by losing their 100th game so quickly.

They are just the fourth team in MLB history to ever lose 100 games before the start of September, which is still a week away at this point.

The White Sox are not just bad, they are historically bad and seem to be on a collision course with setting a new mark for single-season futility in the modern Major League era. It is a staggering decline for a team that just three years ago won 93 games and was in the ALDS and just two years ago was at least an 81-win team.

Sunday's loss gives them 100 losses for the second straight year, and given the state of the roster — especially after the trade deadline — there are still probably a lot more to go over the next five weeks. Especially with some of the teams still remaining on their schedule, including games against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers and playoff contenders Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland and the  New York Mets.

They already made a managerial change during the season, but this is a roster that just simply needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom.
